Pastors Pen March 31, 2012: HAPPY EASTER, HE IS RISEN, HE IS RISEN INDEED!!!!! May God bless you today and every day, Rev. Barb Davis, Pastor
Why the cross? Paul, in Ephesians 2:8-9, tells us, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." There is a penalty for sin. And it had to be paid.

That's why Christ came. He came to pay the penalty once and for all. Nobody else could do it. The lamb had to be "spotless." That Lamb of God had to be sinless so that price being paid would be for others' sins and not His. And that Lamb of God was Christ Himself.

What was the penalty? Death. Scripture tells us "...without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins" (Hebrews 9:22). The principle was foreshadowed throughout the Old Testament. Christ — the perfect sacrifice — came to pay that penalty by dying on the Cross. Christ paid the price of sin – so we wouldn't have to. He paid a debt He did not owe – to pay a debt we could not pay.

The oft-cited acrostic for "GRACE" says it all: "God'sRiches At Christ's Expense." God's riches in glory are available to us only because Christ paid the price at Calvary.

That's how far God would go to save us.

God's greatest expression of His love and His grace was shown by the Cross.

Now a special Commentary by Sister Cara Sabo: Monday is April Fools Day.......FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY ------In Florida, an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, "Case dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stood and objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counselor, is woefully ignorant." The lawyer said," Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fool's Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned." You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!
Pastor Barb, Bill and Susan would like to thank Sister Renee for the yummy chocholates for Easter. God bless!!!!
