LWF - The Christ of Christmas Is Coming Again

The Christ of Christmas Is Coming Again

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto He called you by our Gospel to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  2 Thessalonians 2:13-14

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
You need not be disturbed. “Rest with us.” And you will not be disappointed.

Paul tells us in Second Thessalonians that when He comes, our Lord shall reign.

The first Christmas, there was no room for Him in the inn. When He comes for the final time, He’s coming as King of kings and Lord and lords. Jesus came the first Christmas to die in the sinner’s place. When He comes again, Jesus is coming to receive the sinner to Himself.

There are two aspects of His Second Coming. First, He’s coming secretly for His bride. Then He’s coming with His bride. He’s coming sweetly like a bridegroom; then He’s coming sovereignly like a King. The unfinished story of Christmas is this: Jesus is coming again.

ACTION POINT:
In faith, look backward to a crucified Savior. In love, look upward to a crowned Savior. And in hope, look forward to a coming Savior.

LWF - The Unfinished Story of Christmas

The Unfinished Story of Christmas

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“…when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels…
When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe…” 2 Thessalonians 1: 7, 10

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
The Jesus who came the first time is coming again, and Christmas is not complete without the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The incarnation without the coronation would be like east without west. It would be like an engagement without a marriage. The story is not complete until Jesus comes again.

You may have thought that this was a good Christmas for you—but, friend, I want to tell you…the best is yet to come! The Heavenly Father has so much more in store for us when Jesus comes again.

You see, we get all wrapped up in the little baby, the baby that was born, and we then go beyond the birth of the baby, saying, “Yes, He came to die for our sins” (thank God He did that), but I want to remind you that the First Coming of Jesus and the Second Coming are linked together.

The Christmas Story in Luke 1 and 2 speaks not only of the Jesus who redeemed, but the Jesus who reigned. Not only Jesus who came the first time, but Jesus who is coming the second time to sit upon the throne of His father David, to rule over the house of Jacob forever and ever.

ACTION POINT:
Imagine for a moment what your life would be like without the Resurrection, the Rapture, and the Second Coming of Jesus. The most glorious fact of the past is that Jesus came the first time. The most glorious fact of the future is that this Jesus is coming again. The one sure hope of this jittery old world is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

LWF - Always Be Ready to Give an Answer

Always Be Ready to Give an Answer

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” 1 Peter 3:15

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your faith. In seminary, we call this “apologetics.” Contrary to what you might think, this does not mean you are to apologize for your faith! Instead, “apologetics” comes from the Greek word that means “to give a defense, as in front of a judge.”

Can you defend your faith? It is not enough for you to demonstrate your faith; you must also defend your faith. If you ran into someone who was dying, and he asked you to share your faith with him, could you? You need to be ready.

You need to also be reasonable. You need to study God’s Word and know what it says about salvation, sin, heaven, and hell. Are you ready?

ACTION POINT:
If not, get ready today. There’s no better time.

LWF - Who Is Keeping You In God’s Hand?

Who Is Keeping You In God’s Hand?

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations.” Deuteronomy 7:9

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
When I talk about eternal security, inevitably I will hear, “Well, maybe your sins can’t take you out of the hand of God, but Satan can.”

In all due respect, I respond, “Pardon me. But that is foolishness. If Satan could take you out of the hand of God, why hasn’t he done it yet? Hasn’t he been nice to you? That would be a strange doctrine. You’re going to heaven by the grace of the devil!”

God saves us. God keeps us. What has been settled in eternity can never be undone by the ways of men or the schemes of the devil.

ACTION POINT:
Read Romans 8:38-39 today. These would be important verses for you to memorize.

LWF - When Your Feet Are Slipping…

When Your Feet Are Slipping…

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.” Psalm 73:1

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Asaph, the author of Psalm 73, started his psalm by talking about the purity of a person’s heart and the goodness of God. Then he says, “But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped” (Psalm 73:2).

He had the idea that when he got right with God, that he wouldn’t have any more troubles. Are you sure about that? Yes! Psalm 73:13-14 says, “Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.”

He said, “I got right with God and I still have problems!” He had a false expectation that the Bible doesn’t necessarily give. Christians are not due preferential treatment.

ACTION POINT:
Seek the Lord through His Word and in prayer. You will find the presence of God is enough, even in the midst of our trials.

Joke: Dear Editor, Today is Veterans Day, so I asked someone who had been in the Armed Service what he did in the military. He said, "I was in the Pacific Theater." I asked him if any other GIs were with him. He said "Yes, there were thousands of us in the Pacific Theater." I asked him how much time he spent in the Pacific Theater. He said that he was in the Pacific Theatre every day for five months!

I certainly believe that our fighting men need some recreation, but I think that they don't need to be in the movie theater that long. Back in 1944, for example, our boys in uniform were having a tough time on the beaches of Norway - yet there were thousands of GIs off in the movie theater who could have been helping out. And as a Concerned American, I think it is a bit excessive for a serviceman to be at the picture show every day for five months. Of course, all Veterans were not in the Pacific Theater, and we should be proud of those who fought and who made sacrifices.

A Concerned American
Not an informed American, just concerned, uneducated.......

Poppaw told Alyssa, "Now always turn on the light and look in the nest to make sure there is no snake in it." Alyssa replied, "Silly Poppaw! Chickens don't lay snakes...they lay eggs."

Say What? Learning to use a voice-recognition computer program, I was excited about the prospect of finally being able to write more accurately than I type. First I read out loud to the computer for about an hour to train it to my voice, then I opened a clean page and dictated a nursery rhyme to see the magic. The computer dutifully printed out, "Murry fed a little clam, its fleas was bright and slow."

JESUS IS COMING, IT COULD BE TODAY—R U READY!!!!!!!

LWF - Shake Off Fear—Embrace Blessing!

Shake Off Fear—Embrace Blessing!

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Did you know that fear can cause you to forget things? Now, I’m not talking about forgetting a phone number or someone’s name, though it may cause you to forget things like that. Instead, I’m referring to fear that causes you to forget the blessings, the anointing, the power of God—all these possessions you have because you are saved!

It happened to Timothy, who was mightily gifted and graced by God for the ministry that God had given him. Yet he forgot this in the midst of fear, and Paul had to remind him (see 2 Timothy 1:6). He had taken his eyes off of God and focused on fear so much that he couldn’t see anything else.

Let me tell you something friend: You are tremendously blessed! If you get your mind distracted by fear, then you will fail to see your blessings in Christ. Fear will blow out every light in your soul, take the blue out of your sky, and the joy out of your life.

ACTION POINT:
Friend, wake up and count your blessings. Rejoice, for you are in Christ!

LWF - If You Keep Your Eyes on Jesus…

If You Keep Your Eyes on Jesus…

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” John 16:22

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
When I was a boy and living on the Florida coastline, my brother and I were a little disappointed when a hurricane passed us by because of the exhilaration we experienced leaning into the wind and tasting the salty air! I can remember waves sometimes reaching fifty feet in the air. What a sight! But did you know there has never been a storm to move the ocean floor?

There will be storms that will course across the surface of our lives with raging torment, but the child of God can know a deep-down joy that nothing can take away. If you keep your eyes on Jesus, He will bring a joy that no man can take from you.

ACTION POINT:
Oh, thank God for the steadfastness of His power, love, and mercy. Is your joy full in Christ today despite the winds of adversity?

Newsletter - FULL GOSPEL MISSION

 FULL GOSPEL MISSION
 887 W. Spruce Ave., Ravenna, OH 44266
 Rev. Barbara A. Davis, Pastor

Pastors Pen, October 27, 2013......Surprise Endings"...Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (I Peter 5:8).

The story is told of a sweet little girl who went into the pet store. She asked the owner, "Do you have any rabbits?" Kneeling down and looking her right in the eye, the owner asked, "Do you want a little white rabbit or a little black rabbit?"

The sweet little girl responded, "I don't think my python will care what color it is."

I laughed when I heard this...and I love stories with surprise endings.

The Bible tells us that Satan the serpent (Genesis 3:1, 13 and Revelation 12:9) seeks to deceive and to destroy you. He is the devourer of the children of God. When he is coming to devour us, he doesn't care what color we are. He doesn't care if we are young or old. He doesn't care if we are fragile or rugged. He just wants to deceive and devour us.

The sweet little girl didn't want the rabbit for a pet. She wanted it as food for her python.

Satan doesn't show us his true colors. He presents himself as light and good (2 Corinthians 11:14). But, he is anything but that!

Be careful. Satan seeks to deceive and devour and destroy. In his case, his ending is no surprise. I like that. What will be your ending? Eternity--it happens-U-decide where!

 JOKE.
Cause And Effect Last October my wife bought a magnolia tree from the local nursery, but after only a few weeks the leaves shriveled. It appeared to be on its last legs. My wife took some leaf samples and marched into the nursery to demand an explanation. "I know exactly what's wrong with your magnolia," said the manager. "Good," said my wife. "What's it suffering from?" He replied, "Autumn."

More Cause And Effect "This hotel stinks!" a guest complained when he showed up at the front desk to check out. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I got no sleep. Every 15 minutes this loud banging sound woke me up!" I apologized for the noise and checked him out. A few minutes later, a couple showed up. Again, I made the mistake of asking how their stay was. "Terrible!" they said. "The guy in the next room was snoring so loudly that we had to bang on the wall every 15 minutes to wake him up!"

FYI THANKS: Charlie and John for getting the ac's upstairs. God bless!
