How Do I Get More Light?

How Do I Get More Light?

BIBLE MEDITATION:
“Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.” Psalm 119:34

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Is God righteous? Yes! How is the righteousness of God revealed? “From faith to faith.” How does that work? God gives you truth…you believe that truth…God gives you more truth.

The more you obey the light, the more light you get.

The reason some of us don’t understand the Bible any more than we do is because we have not been living up to the light God has already given us! If you want to understand the part of the Bible you don’t understand, begin to obey the part you do understand and you’ll understand what you didn’t understand. Do you understand?

ACTION POINT:
Ask God for faith that will reveal to you the hidden truths of His Word that are hard for you to understand right now.

Bringing Up Godly Children in an Ungodly World

Bringing Up Godly Children in an Ungodly World

BIBLE MEDITATION: “O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto
have I declared Thy wondrous works.” Psalm 71:17

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Satan is on a killing spree—he wants to kill our memory and set us awash in the
sea of forgetfulness without any recollection of our Christian heritage as a nation.

Tragically, he’s aiming his artillery at our children, and particularly in the place
where they used to grow in the knowledge of good things—the public school.
Prayer is out. Police are in. Bibles are out. Values clarification is in. The Ten
Commandments are out. Social engineering is in. Creation is out. Evolution is
in. History is out. Revisionism is in. God says we need to remember the
generation to come.

ACTION POINT:
You have an important job—to influence the lives of those who will come after
you. Teach them to walk in the ways of the Lord and against the tide of the world.

Doubting Our Salvation

Doubting Our Salvation

BIBLE MEDITATION:   “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A woman told the great evangelist Dwight L. Moody, “I’ve been saved twenty-five years, and I’ve never had one single doubt.”

He responded, “Madam, I doubt you’ve been saved.”

That would be like a couple saying they’ve been married 50 years and never had an argument. I’d say, “I doubt you’ve been married.”

We all have doubts. You see, doubt is to your spirit what pain is to your body. It is a signal that something is wrong. And just as you seek to find a remedy for your pain, you should seek to find a remedy for your doubts. Jesus is your remedy. Get into His Word and know the assurance of your salvation. It’s not you, it’s Jesus that makes it possible.

ACTION POINT:
Are you doubting your salvation? Then run to Jesus. Soak yourself in these truths from God’s Word:
•    Romans 10:13,
•    Ephesians 2:1-10
•    Titus 3:5.

FULL GOSPEL MISSION
887 W. Spruce Ave. Ravenna, OH  44266
Rev. Barbara A. Davis, Pastor

Sunday March 11, 2012 Pastors Pen:  ONE MINUTE EACH NIGHT

This is the scariest election we as Christians have ever faced, and from the looks of the polls, the Christians aren't voting Christian values. We all need to be on our knees.

Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders unfold. This scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to heal it. I challenge you to do that. We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land.
This election is the scariest I remember in my lifetime. 2 Chronicles 7:14. 'If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.'

During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill, who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute, to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect, as bombing stopped.

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America.

The United States of America, and our citizens, need prayer more than ever!!! If you would like to participate, each evening at 9:00 P.M. Eastern Time (8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, 6 PM Pacific), stop whatever you're doing, and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, for peace in the world, the upcoming election, that the Bible will remain the basis for the laws governing our land, and that Christianity will grow in the U.S.

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please pass this along. Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Thank you.  Won’t you take the challenge?

The challenge to pray for America?  TO PRAY!!!

Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord

Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord

BIBLE MEDITATION: “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A man named Solomon Peas died. His tombstone in London reads:

“Beneath these clouds and beneath these trees
Lies the body of Solomon Peas.
But this ain’t Peas - it’s just the pod.
Peas shelled out and went to God.”

I like that. That’s what your body is. It’s just a pod. What happens to a child of God who has trusted Christ as his personal Savior? When he closes his eyes in this life, he opens them in the next. Jesus did not say, “After two or three thousand years, you’ll be with Me in paradise.” Jesus said, “Today, truly, you’ll be with Me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).

ACTION POINT:
Are you confident that if you died today you’d be with Jesus in paradise? If not, then confess your sins and believe upon His name to save you. Now, go and tell someone!

This World Is Not My Home

This World Is Not My Home

BIBLE MEDITATION: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God.” Colossians 3:1

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
First Peter 2:11 says that we are aliens and strangers in this world. We are in the world, but we are not of the world. We are twice-born in a world of once-born people, and we’re going to find ourselves going against the tide most of the time.

It’s like a deep sea diver who is underwater and outside his natural environment. He could not live if he weren’t linked to his life supply above. That’s the way we need to live. If we are to survive, we must stay linked to Jesus who is our life.

The Bible says we’re not to set our affections on things beneath, but on things above where Christ sits at the right hand of the Father. (Colossians 3:1)

ACTION POINT:
It’s time to check your lifeline...are you trusting in anything in this world? Are you making friends with the things of this world?

Mountains Need Moving

Mountains Need Moving

BIBLE MEDITATION: “Jesus answered and said...if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” Matthew 21:21

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
When a nation loses its ability to discern morality, it embarks on a slippery slope toward self-destruction, especially when it comes to basic sexual morality.

When a nation turns its back on the commands of God, He will say, “That’s the last step. I wash My hands. You asked for it. You got it.”

America is in a crisis, and unless we have a moral rebirth, we will join the graveyard of the nations—it’s time to wake up. Time is passing—it’s time to look up. Jesus is coming—it’s time to sober up. Satan is working—it’s time to pray up. Mountains need moving.

ACTION POINT:
Ask the Lord to heal our land, forgiving the iniquities of the wicked by bringing salvation to their souls.

Happy Fourth of July!

"The Declaration of Independence was approved JULY 4, 1776....

Benjamin Franklin said, "We must hang together or most assuredly we shall hang separately."

Of the 56 signers: 17 lost their fortunes, 12 had their homes destroyed, 5 became prisoners of war, 1 had two sons imprisoned on the British starving ship Jersey, 1 had a son killed in battle, 1 had his wife die from harsh prison treatment and 9 signers died during the War....

John Adams said, "...I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure that it will cost to maintain this Declaration.... Posterity will triumph in that day's transaction, even though we [may regret] it, which I trust in God we shall not."

Chairmen’s Cluttered Corner: July 2012

Praise the Lord, what a camp meeting we had!!!! God was there from the opening to the closing. He showed up and we were blessed to be under the influence of the awesome power of God.

Wednesday night opened with singing by Holy Direction, Whaleys, Sue Davis, Crystal Davis, and Steven, I was blessed to deliver the bread of life.

Thursday night the Whaleys and Rev. Barbie and Rev. Bill D. also sang, then Rev. John Ballew preached a powerhouse of a message on Peter, and the Holy Ghost, and our need of the comforter in our lives.

Friday evening Sister Tammy Jones Robinette followed the opening of Holy Direction with Barb Davis-Kingsbury. What a service it was, a Sister Tammy sang her heart out and had us on our feet praising the master. After each service we ate well, and had a great time of fellowship.

Saturday was the business meeting. Rev. Doc C. H. Bishop and Sister Bishop, Rev. Barb Kingsbury and DC, Rev. Susan Davis, Rev. James Orr, Rev. Patsy Rosser, Rev.’s Ron and Bobbie Whaley, Rev. Steve Remias were in attendance. Rev. Ron Whaley has agreed to stay another year, but is praying for a replacement for his position on the board, we need to be in prayer it is hard to replace a legend.

We choose the date of June 12-15 for camp meeting in 2013, Lord willing, and picked a date for Michigan in 2013. Afterwards we had a great picnic and some fantastic fellowship. Much too soon it was time for the closing singing, which I think was a great service, and I was blessed to be attendance. To my dismay it was time to go, and go we did, camp is now a memory, and in my mind a good one.

Since our last writing, the misses and I attended the West Virginia service of PFGM. What a great message by Rev. J. Giffords, and great singing by Sister Angie, and the other in attendance. I especially enjoyed the Foster and there praise military style. I also was blessed to worship with PFGM and the Whaley’s on the 30th of June. What a time of worship we had, the singing lasted over an hour and a half, then Sister Bobby Whaley preached a great message on the basic’s of Christian living, something we need to remember. On a personal note I was also attended the graduation of my Daughter the Rev. Barb Davis-Kingbury who was valedictorian of her degreed program in the Dental Assistant field--way to go Barbie!!

So that bring us to the up coming events. I will be preaching in North Carolina on Friday evening, July 6 in Rockingham, and the on Saturday afternoon July 7th in Mount Holly NC. Rev. Barbie K will be preaching Saturday evening the 7th in Rockingham, as will Rev. Barb Davis on Sunday morning the 8th of July, so pray for this upcoming camp meeting, that God will use all his servants, and bless this weekend meeting. I love to go to North Carolina and worship with the saints at two of our sister churches.

JULY 14----MICHIGAN, here we come, and man am I excited to be coming up to see Doctor and Sister Bishop. The church is located at 6413 Inkster Road in Taylor Michigan 48180. What a service it will be. Have you made plans to join us? If not it is still not to late to join in the worship. Doctor and Sister Bishop always feed us so good, both at the food table and the master table. I have been asked to speak at this service, but don’t let that stop you from coming, because I know the Lord will be there. Dinner is served at Noon, and the service follows. So bring your music, your voices, and let have us some CHURCH!!!!

August the 4 finds us with Rev. Cooper in Pennsylvania, more on that next month, but mark your calendars!! There is much to pray about. Sister Ballew is doing better but needs prayer. Sister Bishop was at camp meeting, thank God, but still needs prayer. Sister Susan Davis and I need prayer for some health issues that God is going to fix. Bro. Whaley is facing eye surgery and needs your prayer. Rev. Ron and Joyce Beaver from Michigan need your prayer. All of our minister and church’s need prayer for God guidance in these the last days. Rev. Nancy Vigar-Schmid was in a serious accident, she and her husband Harry both needs our prayers. Also continue to remember Rev. Opdyke with the loss of his wife.

Till we meet again,

Your next in line for a miracle, not last but next!

Newsletter - FULL GOSPEL MISSION

FULL GOSPEL MISSION
887 W. Spruce Avenue, Ravenna, OH 44266
Rev. Barbara A. Davis, Pastor

July 1, 2012 Pastors Pen: HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA 2012---- February of 1945 Joe Rosenthal pulled out his camera and clicked a photo that would later become the most reproduced photograph in the history of photography: Five young Marines planting the American flag on the island of Iwo Jima. The photo of these young men raising the flag was splashed across the front page of every paper in the country, and for months papers republished the photo. Newspapers were saved, posters were purchased, the photo appeared everywhere, people could not get enough of the photo.

Why is that? Why did people become so emotionally connected to this image of the flag? Why is it that even today, we as Americans are taken back every time we see the photo of these men struggling with the stars and strips? Our flag, though it is a piece of fabric, our flag, though it has no power on its own, our flag, though it is only a material object, even though our flag is only a flag, our flag, the banner of the United State of America IS one of the most powerful symbols in the world today.

It represents freedom. It represents the removal of tyranny from our lives. It represents hope. We see our flag and we know what a blessing we have been given to be citizens of this country. Others look at our flag and dream of a better life, they dream of a freedom that might one day be theirs.

Throughout our history, men and women have willingly laid down their lives defending it. Today men and women are deployed around the globe with the pledge to defend and preserve our flag. Even our children start their school day with a pledge of allegiance to our flag.

Let us not forget that our national anthem also pays honor to our flag. There is not a day that goes by that somewhere in our nation the Star Spangled Banner is sung and many times, by the last line, there is not a dry eye in the crowed. We stand together, our hands over our hearts and we sing about a raging battle where finally in the dawns early light, our flag, high above the fray, was still there….the impossible happened, we held out, we fought the fight, we persevered and our hope is assured. Surely God had preserved us.
What emblem’s the Flag and the Cross--both stand for freedom!!!!!

Peace With God - Because Of The Cross

 BIBLE MEDITATION:
“... having made peace through the blood of His cross.” Colossians 1:20

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
How can a cross bring peace if Jesus is the One hanging there?

At the cross, wickedness was not appeased. Wickedness was confronted.

At the cross, sin was not overlooked. Sin was atoned and paid for.

God’s greatest righteousness confronted man’s greatest wickedness, and righteousness won! Peace was attained through the blood of the cross.

Thank God for the cross! Thank God for Jesus!

ACTION POINT:
During this time of year, as you celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord, take a few moments to praise Jesus for the power and hope you have because of His resurrection.

Devotions taken from the messages of Adrian Rogers.
